University of Minnesota researchers link tau to Alzheimer's disease

The University of Minnesota said Wednesday that scientists have established a firm relationship between a protein known as tau and Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of elderly dementia in the United States.

In a study published in the journal Neuron, researchers say that an early buildup of tau in the dendritic spines, a region of the brain responsible for electrochemical stimulation, can cause memory loss by disrupting communications between brain cells.

Tau has long been considered an early biomarker for the onset of Alzheimer's. By forging a direct link between tau and a specific brain area and function, researchers could possibly design ways to treat Alzheimer's before it significantly damages the brain.

With 675,000 DOWNLOADS in 91 COUNTRIES GPS TRACKING APPS LEADER GTX Corp LAUNCHES 3 NEW GPS AND LBS APPS

GPS Tracking Apps keep you connected to everyone, everywhere…

Los Angeles, California September 28, 2010--GTX Corp (OTCBB: GTXO.OB) business unit LOCiMOBILE, Inc. is launching a series of GPS and personal location - based “apps” and web services solidifying its leadership position in the mobile LBS market, which mobile carriers are calling “Pure Gold”.

The new apps all have a GPS component and are designed to add the “where is” factor to functionality. A potential block-buster, the Company launched on the Android market place Phone Tracking ™ in case you loose or misplace your phone. More than 70 million phones are reported lost or stolen in the US each year but while the loss of a phone may be annoying the loss of personal and business data could be devastating. This $4.99 app is designed to work in the background and can be activated to turn on remotely in the event you misplace your phone. The real-time tracking and recovery feature is activated by either texting your phone or by going to the Company viewing portal www.gpstrackingapps.com The cool part is this app is actually activated remotely by texting your phone a PIN or password. Upon receipt of the password your phone will begin sending its location coordinates back to the website every minute or to the phone you are texting from, after each text request.

The Company is also about to launch a new live tracking version of its popular Tracking App which will work in the background on Apples 4.0 OS. Live Tracking ™ already available on Android and BB will be part of the web-based service and offers cross-platform, real-time GPS tracking of friends and family, kids and co-workers.

Entering the photography category GPS Camera ™ which GEO tags and time stamps your photos and enables you to upload them to Facebook or email to friends is expected to go live on iTunes any day. “The ability to see all your digital pictures 5 years from now, displaying exactly where and when that great shot was taken, is a modern adaptation of our parents writing on the back of that old black and white photo (Grand Canyon Spring 1977)” said Carlos Briceno VP of Business Development.

With Juniper Research supporting the theory that mobile LBS is going to become disruptive technology and could drive revenues to more than 12.7 billion with 1 billion smart phones by 2014, the Company is aggressively increasing app development and launching new apps, positioning for a strong presence in the mobile market with a diverse product line, increased global user base, brand recognition and revenues.

Do you know what the Most Innovative Location Device is?

No it’s not a compass or an astrolabe. It’s not semaphore or a smoke signal. Not an RFID tag or a neon sign or phosphorous flare either.

Give up?

It’s the GPS Smart Shoe recently mentioned in Forbes Magazine, developed by GTX Corp (OTCBB: GTXO.OB) and licensed to Aetrex Worldwide. Yes, a shoe…well a very smart shoe as it can tell a caregiver the precise location, bearing, history, speed and altitude of an Alzheimer’s victim that has eloped or wandered. No small feat – pun intended – to reduce the overwhelming stress on the millions of victim caregivers while potentially saving thousands from injuries and death owing to exposure, accidents and criminal activity. The GPS Shoe also reduces the manpower drain on municipal services; fire, police and welfare agencies often enlisted to locate the mentally ill.

While a Finalist in the Most Innovative Location Device category of the Locations & Beyond Summit and the People’s Choice Awards is a wonderful acknowledgment for the years GTXO invested in developing the solution and the promise that Aetrex has made in bringing the Shoe to market…the real winners are those touched by this devastating disease for which there is no cure, but now have a new measure of hope.

19.2 Billion or 20 bucks?

The government has mandated that all medical records be converted from paper to digital records over the next few years. They have also budgeted 19.2 billion dollars in stimulus money to be handed out to help defray the cost of doing so. Those are your tax dollars by the way. The cost could rise to over 27 billion dollars over the next 10 years.

"A big part of where the government is going is to try to make the data flow more freely amongst providers and hospitals so that your data goes with you instead of staying with the hospital or doctor," said Dr. Michael Swiernik, UCLA Director of Medical Information.

Sounds great, right? But what actually has to happen to make it work?

Currently, some hospitals are making their patient information systems available to their participating doctors so the medical records can be shared and updated between them. It’s a start but not how the program is supposed to work. See Dr. Swiernik’s statement above. Your data is supposed to go with you, not just “staying with the hospital or doctor”.

For the program to work as proposed there has to be a centralized data base that contains all of the electronic medical records for every patient that is accessible by every doctor, clinic, hospital etc. Also, each doctor, hospital, clinic etc. must update the database anytime the patient’s information changes. Updates are the easy part.

Each health care provider must input the patients’ information to create the database. There is the rub. Who goes first? Who starts the process of putting your medical records into the database? How is the database accessed? What equipment is required? How does your doctor get registered as an authorized health care provider in the system?

Do you think that your doctor has the staff or the time and equipment to input every one of their patients' information into that database? Probably not.

Here is a simple $20 solution to a multi billion dollar problem - Code Amber Alertag.

My personal medical records are available to any doctor, hospital, emergency room, EMT or clinic I choose to give access. Anywhere in the world.

When I got my Alertag I simply went to the web site and entered my personal medical information into the secure (256 bit encryption – just like my bank) server. There are two types of information, public and private.

The public information is accessible by entering my ten digit security code on the secure web page and is intended to be used by emergency personnel, like EMT’s and emergency room staff, if I am in an accident or otherwise incapacitated. Public information includes any allergies, conditions, treatments or my current medications. This information enables emergency personnel to treat me appropriately based on my current information.

The public information also provides emergency contact information so they can contact my wife for access to my private records, by entering my PIN on the secure web site, if I can’t give it to them and they need additional information on my conditions. And my wife will be glad to know where I am and that I am being taken care of properly.

My private medical records area contains extensive information regarding my medical history over my entire life time. All of this information I entered myself, including images of old x-rays, and now can be maintained by me and my doctors.

Of course I also got Alertags for my wife, my daughter, son-in-law and my two beautiful granddaughters.

To sum it up we are in total control of our personal medical records and you can be too. They are available instantly anywhere in the world and it only cost me 20 bucks each.

So that’s how you can solve a 19 billion dollar problem with a $20 product.

Dear GTX Corp,

I was lucky enough to have been lent one of your GL 100 LOCi GPS tracking devices for a recent high school project. It worked tremendously and I want to describe the experience for you.

On May 22nd, 2010, a balloon containing probes and an HD video camera constructed by 12 students at The Bay School of San Francisco was launched from Carmel State River Beach, and traveled over 75,000 feet into the air before bursting and returning to earth some 80 minutes later. The balloon and its attached equipment traveled close to 80 miles east, landing on the edge of the central valley.

In order to observe the movements vertically and horizontally of the balloon, including locating its landing spot so that recovery could be achieved, the team of students used three separate methods to track the travel of the near space balloon. One of these methods was the use of a LOCi tracker. This device, only a couple inches in length, is a new design from GTX Corp (GTXO) using a multi-step process to track whatever it is attached to in real time. The first operation is to figure out its location by triangulation from satellites, using standard GPS technology. It then broadcasts its location in cellular wave format, using standard cell towers to get the information back to GTX’s servers, where the location is stored for the end user to see via GTX’s website.

Traveling up to 75,000 feet in the air, and surviving under the extreme conditions that prevail there is an extreme challenge for any electronic device, but the LOCi tracker preformed admirably, recording its location and sending out its location whenever it was possible to establish a connection to a cell tower. When the balloon had traveled to a certain height, it was impossible to reach down to the cell towers which were not designed for this purpose, so there is a temporary blank spot on the map when this occurred, however, after the balloon ascended to within range of a cell tower, it immediately began re-broadcasting.

The LOCi tracker worked remarkably well in finding its location and sending it back out so that from anywhere in the world, we could view its location via internet. The genius of the design is in the simplicity. There is very few ways for this to go wrong, and we did not experience any of it. Without accurate tracking on the balloon, we not only would not have known its height and travel pattern, but we also never would have found where it landed, which was necessary to recover the recorded video. The LOCi tracker never failed in this regard.

Here is a webpage including information about, and a video of, the flight of the near space balloon: http://ikaros.xrg.us/.

Smartphone App Market to Be Worth $15B

Smart phone applications have revolutionized the ways in which users access documents and information and conduct day-to-day business tasks. The apps have revolutionized the ways in which we communicate – both in our personal and corporate channels – and technology is at our fingertips more than ever.

But the real story lies here: the facts, figures, and numbers. For the first six months of 2010 alone, the smart phone application market has in fact grown to $2.2 billion already. Total mobile application downloads has reached 3.8 billion. Now, compare that to 3.1 billion downloads in aggregate 2009, and it’s easy to process the coming estimates for the near future: expansion to a $15 billion market by 2013. Other less conservative estimates that have been released: a $17.5 billion estimate from an independent study by a company called GetJar.

The exponential growth is a culmination of developing technologies from Apple and their proprietary iTunes store, the Android Market by Google, and other mobile app stores that include Blackberry’s App World by Research in Motion.

But these are massive companies that have already enjoyed reaping the benefits from the growth of the app market. At WMM, we discover the little guys. We uncover and then cover companies with small market caps who are on the forefront of some explosive industry fulfilling some voided niche with powerful technology.

GTX Corporation companies. GTX develops and integrates 2 way GPS people finding technologies which seamlessly integrate with consumer products and enterprise applications. LociMobile, a GPS tracking application for iPhone, Samsung, and Blackberry smart phone devices, hit #2 on the iTunes top grossing chart with 600k downloads in 84 countries.

On August 17th, GTX Corporation and Samsung signed a definitive agreement to deliver the LociMobile GPS tracking application to 40 million more phones on the new Scotia model phones. GTXO has also developed a patented micro GPS device for a smart shoe that can be used to track Alzheimer’s patients. The shoe has garnered numerous media attention and the collected and gathered articles can be found on the GTX Corporation Investor Relations website.

This is the story of a company who’s answering the demand for personal GPS tracking software and applications, entering into a market that is expected to grow five-fold over the next three years.

When You Travel do You Carry Your Medical Records With You?

What would happen if you or a member of your family were in a strange city or even another country and had a medical emergency?

Your personal medical records are back home in your Doctor's office in a file on a shelf. Worse yet, your Doctor's office is closed and they can only help you if the answering service can contact them right away and your Doctor can remember enough about your medications, allergies and any conditions your are being treated for to help your attending physician, or Emergency Medical Technician, with the proper course of treatment. It could be worse, if you are unconscious or incapacitated and cannot speak for yourself, the attending medical professional would not even know whom to try to contact, leaving them no option but to do their best with no pertinent information about you or your current condition.

When time is of the essence, the above scenario is unacceptable and could cost you, or a loved one, their life.

Over 100,000 people die every year from preventable medical errors. That makes this the fifth leading cause of death in the United States alone. Over 90% of those errors could have been avoided if the EMT or doctor had quick and easy access to vital information about the patient when first treated.

Emergency personnel are trained to look for Emergency Medical Information when they arrive on the scene. Unfortunately, they rarely find it.

Fortunately, you have a secure and affordable solution for you and your family that will protect you world wide.

The Code Amber Alertag is always with you and provides secure access (256 bit encryption, the same as your bank uses) to your Personal Medical Records electronically within seconds from anywhere in the world from any Internet enabled device including smart phones. Literally everything a Doctor or EMT would need to know in order to treat you or a family member at their finger tips in seconds.

Code Amber Alertag, never leave home without it.

SAMSUNG AND GTX CORP SIGN DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT TO DELIVER GPS TRACKING APPS TO 40 MILLION NEW PHONES

Samsung Users Join Growing Community of Location-Based Social

Networking and Share "Where" Anywhere with GPS Tracking Apps

www.locimobile.com

Los Angeles, CA, August 17, 2010—As it crosses 600,000 downloads in 84 countries, LOCiMOBILE®, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of GTX Corp (OTCBB: GTXO), has inked a deal with Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd., the world's second-largest handset manufacturer in 2009 with sales of more than 235 million units (source, Gartner February 2010) to deliver its family of GPS Tracking Apps to Samsung’s new line of smartphones and bada platform.

Samsung, a leading mobile phone provider, launched its own open mobile platform, Samsung bada, in December 2009. This new addition to Samsung's mobile ecosystem enables developers to create applications for millions of new Samsung mobile phones, and offers consumers a fun and diverse mobile experience. Samsung chose the name “bada”—which means “ocean” in Korean—to convey the limitless variety of potential applications that can be created using their new platform.

In the agreement, GTX Corp will develop versions of its tremendously popular GPS Tracking apps specifically for mobile phones that will run Samsung's new bada operating system. GTX expects its GPS Tracking apps to be featured for sale on the Samsung Application Store beginning in October 2010. Of the 40 million estimated Samsung handsets expected to ship between now and mid-2011, 15-20 million will be the new “Scotia” models, to be shipped before the end of 2010.

“The Samsung bada platform further advances our march towards universal availability for our people-finder apps," says GTX Corp CEO Patrick Bertagna. “We're delighted to have been asked by Samsung to participate in this new market and add the bada platform to our current list along with Apple, Android and RIM. We anticipate bada to be huge out of the gate and a tremendous boost to our business in the US and worldwide.”

GTX Corp’s announcement follows on the heels of an 89% increase in its revenues over the previous quarter and a number of recent software and hardware deals, including the launch of its new consumer based social networking portal www.gpstrackingapps.com. The company also formally launched its GPS Tracking app for the iPad several weeks ago and has already updated that app to version 1.1, and is launching a new GPS camera app this coming month, which will continue to add value to the growing suite of LOCiMOBILE GPS apps.

On the hardware side, developments include embedding miniaturized GPS tracking devices in the Aetrex Ambulator® GPS shoe, which just debuted to the trade at the WSA Show in Las Vegas, and for packages with international shipper MNX.

“We aim to continually drive developments that increase the value and strength of our Company, concludes Bertagna. The Samsung agreement vastly increases our visibility in the US and abroad, and further validates our GPS Tracking model of letting consumer and business users get the answer to ‘Where is my friend, co–worker, family member or high-value asset?’ with one push of a button.”

ABI Research predicts that more than 550 million GPS-enabled handsets will be shipped by 2012. LOCiMOBILE®, with 10 GPS apps on the market and 3 more in development across 4 major platforms, continues to gain traction and momentum in what is estimated to be a $29 billion dollar market by end of 2013.
